From Hundar, Numbra Valley, we started for Thang, which is northernmost village of India the near the Indo-Pak Border. After registering at Army Checkpost, Turtuk, we started towards Thang. The Thang village comes under the sniper range of Pakistan army
In the war of 1971, the Indian Army captured Turtuk the village which is of strategic importance as it is one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier. Turtuk is situated on the bank of Shyok River– also known as River of Death
Returned to Hundar and spend nice time in the evening at Sand Dunes, Hundar. Hundar Sand Dunes are famous because of their white rolling sands. the ambiance is very good due to a flowing river and snow-capped mountains. A desert is at such high an altitude of more than 3,000 mtrs. is just a mircle. One can also enjoy a ride on a double humped Bactrian camel.
Day 4 was exciting as we visited northern most Thang village near Indo-Pak Border !!!
