Visit to Yadgirgutta ,Kesargutta and Chiklur "Visa" Balaji on 06-Nov-2018


One full day tour was with relatives done in Diwali Days in Nov-2019 by Toyota Innova. It was good day out. We visited Yadgirgutta ,Kesargutta and Chikur “Visa” Balaji. The story of ‘Visa Balaji’ was interesting where in devotees.

Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Yadgirgutta The temple is an abode of Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu situated on hillock in Yadgirgutta.

Kesargutta Sri Rama Lingeswara Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Siva and his consorts Bhavani and Sivadurga.  It is located on a small hillock. There is a statue of Hanuman.

The legend is Shri Rama wanated a Lingam to be brought from Varanasi. Hanuman returned with 101 lingams for selection from Varanasi. But he reached late and Shri Rama installed a lingam given to himby Shiva himself to struck the auspicious timing. Henaumana felt aggrieved at not having his lingam installed. Hence, he threw them all over the area. Even to this day several lingams are found scattered all over the place outside the temple.

Chilkoor Balaji Temple Devotees goes through the usual rituals of prayer, including 11 rounds of the inner shrine, and makes a vow. Once the wish is fulfilled devotees then walk 108 times around the sanctum sanctorum. The majority of wishes by devotees are visa related, thus Chilkur Balaji is also referred to as ‘Visa’ Balaji.
