Day 01-Visit to Haridwar and Rishikesh on 16-Jun-2008

Visited Haridwar and  Rishikesh  with all the co-tourists of Chitari Travels. This was our second visit to Haridwar and Rishikesh. The first one remembered as bath in very cold Ganaga River water in very hot May.

The Haridwar city is regarded as a holy place for Hindus, hosting important religious events and serving as a gateway to several prominent places of worship. Haridwar presents a kaleidoscope of Indian culture and development. It is also a passage for the Chota Char Dham (the four principal pilgrim destinations in Uttarakhand viz, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri). Attended and performed Ganga Aarati in the evening.

Rishikesh  is  located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as the “Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas” and “Yoga Capital of the World“. We all were very happy and excited at the Laxman Zoola (Swinging Bridge). We visited some temples after corssing the Laxman Zoola.
